Austin, TX – Austin Pickle Ranch has announced the immediate closure of its West 6th location (June 7, 2024). The beloved pickleball facility cited city zoning issues as the primary reason for shutting down this branch.
In an email sent to its community, Austin Pickle Ranch expressed its regret and outlined the circumstances leading to the closure. Despite numerous discussions with city officials and extensive efforts to navigate zoning regulations, the facility was unable to secure the necessary permissions to continue operations. “We fought the law and the law won,” the email stated.
The announcement addressed several key questions from members:
- Bookings at West 6th: Fortunately, the reservation system used by Austin Pickle Ranch does not charge for bookings until the reservation is complete. As such, members will not be charged for any upcoming bookings at the West 6th location, eliminating the need for refunds. The team apologized for any inconvenience caused by the sudden closure.
- Reason for Closure: The closure was attributed to city zoning issues. After being contacted by the city about the permitted use of the property, Austin Pickle Ranch engaged in numerous discussions and explored all possible alternatives to keep the facility open. Despite their dedicated efforts, they were unable to secure the necessary permissions.
- Alternative Location: Members were reassured that the Braker Lane location remains open and fully operational, offering the same excellent services and facilities. The team invited members to visit this location for their pickleball activities.
