With the rising COVID-19 cases across the United States of America and the upcoming national election, the crowd now turns its eyes on one specific notable person who has been making a difference in the healthcare field. The person who has also been working alongside the government for the past decades is Dr. Anthony Fauci.
Monday evening on CNBC, Dr. Anthony Fauci said that he is ready to stay on the job fighting the pandemic no matter who wins the presidency.
“I’m not gonna walk away from this outbreak, no matter who’s the president… We’re in a bad place now; we’ve got to turn this around.”Dr. Anthony Fauci
Dr. Fauci is the White House coronavirus task force member and director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease. He reaffirmed his commitment to helping Americans combat the coronavirus pandemic. Concomitantly the country averages about 50,000 new cases per day.
Dr. Fauci also emphasized that his role in fighting the pandemic is not political. He even said that the Trump party should not include him in any political advertisement in the campaign for the presidency, further stating that he did not appreciate being “put in a political context.” Dr. Fauci repeated to Smith that he did not consent to be included in the Trump part’s new advertisement.
Smith asked Dr. Fauci for clarification when it came to science-based restrictions and locked down. Dr. Fauci noted that even though “science-based restrictions make sense,” those restrictions should not reach the extent where people are unable to continue their work of living.
“We’ve got to convince Americans that public health measures do not mean shutting the country down. It’s an avenue to keep the country open.”Dr. Fauci
Dr. Fauci added that Americans could decrease the risk of pandemic’s resurgence in five ways that would not involve them losing their jobs. These ways are proper hand hygiene, wearing the right mask consistently and adequately, avoiding large gatherings or crowds, maintaining social distance at six-feet apart, and opting for outdoor spaces rather than indoor.
In summary, Dr. Anthony Fauci reaffirmed his commitment to fighting the pandemic regardless of who wins the presidency. He is determined not to be included in any political campaigns, as his role is primarily for everyone’s health. He reiterated that there are other ways to decrease the coronavirus’s spread without sacrificing every American’s livelihood.
