The truth is there are a lot fake coaches and entrepreneurs in the internet marketing space. Very few are actual practitioners in their craft.
It was a pleasure having the opportunity to interview Ellen Lin, Founder of Ellen Pro and is an eCommerce extraordinaire.
She has been featured in multiple publications and done interviews from: NBC, CBS News, ABC, Huff Post, My GC TV(Grant Cardone’s Network), and Fox.
How did you get into eCommerce ?
“Before I stepped into the e-commerce world, I was in the game development industry. I loved video games since I was little and decided to become a video game designer; a profession I was very passionate about.
I was very passionate and satisfied with my $47,000 salary as an Environment Artist making AAA title games. It was my dream job because I got to create video games the way I wanted. ”
However, the 2009 recession hit and unfortunately, the studio laid off Ellen. Ellen decided to help out her father in his wholesale business which wasn’t performing very well at that point.
In 2011, with 0 eCommerce experience and only $600 worth of inventory, she turned her struggles into a multi million dollar generating business, selling through Amazon 4 years later and in 2016 she got a warehouse in California that is near 10,000 sqft.
What is 1 thing you can teach us about eCommerce ?
The problem is that most people in eCommerce think they need to sell the most popular products because they have the mentality since it’s a “trending” product, they will maximize profit.
However, Ellen is finding niches that have a lot of potential and uses her experience and experimenting with products in those niches to find which one will sell. Her aim is to exploit the markets people are not tapping into and maximize profit before it becomes saturated.
Also, most coaches preach software and selling popular products whereas Ellen believes in master the fundamentals first.
What made you decide to get into coaching and how has Matt Pocius- The Youngest and Highest Paid Internet Marketing Consultant In The World helped in your journey ?
Ellen decided to get into coaching to make an impact on others and decided that Matt would be able to help her in her goals as he has been quite successful in that space. She realized early on that as a coach it is important for oneself to be able to put themselves out in the public eye, on all social media platforms, and create videos to be able to interact with her audience.
Being introverted and not speaking English perfectly was a barrier Ellen had to overcome and she realized that she was going to do whatever it takes to make her mark in the coaching space; and be different from the other coaches in the space.
What is your favourite book of all time ?
Ellen loves Jack Canfield’s book, “The Success Principles” which discusses the Law of Attraction.
The Law of Attraction is a principle that is generally taken out of context where people believe that they could just think of something and it will manifest. However, the variable that people miss the most is action. Without action nothing will manifest.
How important has FOCUS been for you in business ?
For Ellen, focus has been an integral part in growing her empire. When she has been able to master eCommerce and build her business to the point of “autopilot” she decided to go into the coaching space.
One mistake entrepreneurs make is trying to build too many businesses at once and not be able to scale any of them.
“Building a business is like a child, once you raise it to a certain age, then start another one”
Who is 1 entrepreneur that you admire?
Mark Zuckerberg because not only has he built a billion dollar empire, but he still makes time for his family and still does work to impact society in a positive way.
What’s next for Ellen?
Other than her book which she is coming out soon, she will start venturing into real estate because of opportunities to expand her empire and make additional income.
Where can people find you for consulting or discovering more about your business?
ellenpro.com would be the best and she is active on all major platforms if you search her name.
