Huawei had one of its most challenging years in its history, with the U.S. blacklisting them from its markets. However, this dilemma didn’t hinder the multinational tech company from producing new gadgets. In the last couple of days, Huawei has unveiled its latest sport earphones, the FreeLace Pro.
The company notes that their latest earphones will beat the earphones of its U.S. Rival. Notably, Apple released its AirPods Pro last October, priced at $249. The piece of technology highlights a new look, adding two more silicone tips. Moreover, it boasts a noise-canceling technology with improved water and sweat resistance.
FreeLace Pro is the upgraded version of its predecessor, the FreeLace. Released in April last year, FreeLace has a sleek design made explicitly for Huawei smartphone users. It has an excellent sound output, even with choosing bass frequencies and a lack of codec support.
With the FreeLace Pro, the Chinese company has upped the ante. Although it looks like regular neckband headphones, Huawei also incorporated the noise-canceling technology the Apple AirPods Pro has.
According to the company, its earphones active noise cancellation (ANC) capabilities reach up to 40dB, AirPods Pro only has 33dB. On average, it’s FreeLace Pro has a 25dB ANC effectiveness from sub-bass frequencies.
They go on and say that their earphones’ ANC surpasses Bose QuietControl 30’s. This statement is a big claim because ANC’s effectiveness varies on each frequency range. The number of decibels of sound reduction can vary based on the test methodology and the kind of ambient used.
Its new earphones have 14mm drivers with aluminum-magnesium alloy diaphragm. The Huawei FreeLace Pro also has a “bass tube” that enhances lower frequency response. It has three microphones for the ANC technology and crystal-clear audio transmission during calls.
Same as its predecessor, it has a neckband-style design that gives its customers a longer battery life. Again, the company has created a bold statement contesting that their earphones have 24 hours of continuous playback. However, Huawei did not specify if consumers can turn on and off the ANC capability. A day of playback time with active noise cancellation is very questionable.
The new earphones also have the USB-C built-in cable like the FreeLace. It supports fast charging; five minutes of charging can result from five hours of playback time.
FreeLace Pro will have three color designs, black, green, and white. The company hasn’t announced these earphones’ international price, but it costs 599 or roughly $86. Huawei hasn’t announced the global release date, but it will be available in China this week.
