When Jagrit Pratap Singh, Pranav Rastogi and Muhammad Ali started their journey into digital marketing, the concept of “digital marketing” was just starting off. The three started creating websites which were regularly ranking on the front page of Google in the early 2010s. They credit that success to the “digg.com days.” Over the years, a lot has changed for these three men – but their spirit of innovation and hunger for success is still intact. Now working in a more streamlined fashion, the trio owns Pollination – a firm that owns some of the hottest internet properties ranging from social media pages to e-commerce platforms!

In an interview with Future Sharks, the three comment on their journey and offer advice for those who are starting theirs.
Experimentation is the Key
Commenting on the success of Pollination, Jagrit said that the key to their success is experimentation! The trio has never backed down from trying out the latest innovations. Jagrit added:
“Working in the internet is all about taking risks. You can never be a successful internetopreneur without taking risks. As the popular meme goes – improvise, adapt, overcome!”
Backing up Jagrit’s statement, Pranav Rastogi added: Experimentation should be done carefully. One cannot fire blind shots and hope they hit the target. It is a process which requires a careful analysis of changing trends. In the internet, one always needs to be aware of what is happening. The kind of content that you churn out has to be the latest, but you also need to ensure that it is not too experimental and appeals only to a niche segment.

Do Not Get Carried Away!
Do not get carried away in the name of experimental content, says Muhammad. He added that content is the king and it needs to have a mass appeal. It can be a viral video or an emotional bit – but it needs to connect with a large audience.
Getting back to the topic of experimenting with content, the Pollination team said that constant experimentation is good for the brand. It ensures that the kind of content that they offer is fresh and keeps audiences of all tastes and preferences engaged!

Challenges are a part and parcel of any industry you decide to work in. Finance, science, politics, arts – they all have their own problems and issues. These challenges are also present in internet marketing and content creation business. However, all it takes is a rational thought coming from creative minds to successfully tackle and overcome these challenges.
The pollination team has always made the best of all the options they’ve had over the years. They started off with websites in the digg-days, Jagrit recalls. However, after Digg’s popularity fell through, they quickly moved on to social media. The three came up with Hiptoro, a hugely popular page which had millions of followers and shared interesting and viral content.
However, Hiptoro became a victim of Facebook’s algorithmic changes over the months. They’ve since created social media pages such as “Art Studios”, “Take Moments” and “Life of a Rider” among others. The secret to their success continues to be social media, Muhammad claims.
The three are now experimenting with e-commerce business in Dubai and USA. A successful example of Pollination’s latest effort is their latest e-commerce website, NoahsCave.com. Their journey continues, the experimentation continues, the innovation continues – and success continues to follow them.
