Christian Vind: What’s your backstory?
Ka’Nya: What got me passionate about it was my skin tone, because a lot of girls are never given a chance to share their talent. I want to inspire and also advocate for women that have a darker skin tone.
Christian Vind: What are your favorite makeup products to use, and what do you find most unique about those products?
Ka’Nya: I like Covergirl but I absolutely love Fenty beauty. With Covergirl, they have really stepped up the bar expanding their makeup products particularly foundation, to match girls with my skin tone and with Fenty, it was created by a young black woman that has inspired me in hopes of one day having my own makeup line.
Christian Vind: If you could make your own makeup line, what would you want your brand to be called? And if you could choose anyone to work with you to grow your future makeup business, who would it be and why?
Ka’Nya: My makeup brand would be called Deep Glow Cosmetics. I would love to work with Rihanna because she has stepped out of her lane in music to start a business in makeup which became successful overnight and is still growing.
Christian Vind: What are your ultimate goals for your modeling and makeup career?
Ka’Nya: To carry on legacies such as Naomi Campbell, Iman, and Grace Jones and starting a legacy like Nyakim Gatewech and with my makeup I want it to be worn by all.
Christian Vind: Would you want to be signed to a modeling agency? If so, which ones would you choose?
Ka’Nya: The modeling agencies I would love to be signed to would be Ford Models, or Img Models.
Christian Vind: What are some of the pros and cons of being a model?
Ka’Nya: Pros is getting to meet new people, and building business relationships. The cons are starting off and building yourself.
