Tell us about BlueSky Consulting. How did you come up with this idea?
Haris Reis: My friend (Grant Stanley) and I were grabbing lunch and discussed working together on one project, 30 days later…we generated an additional $5M for the client and we said we have something here!
$5M in 30 days is impressive! Not many 24 years olds have that claim, how’d you do it?
It is for a trucking company locally here in Omaha, NE. They had many trucks but not many drivers. I had to generate leads for them to fill the trucks so they can generate revenue. For trucking companies have about 20-30% of their freight empty, this client is at 100% occupancy and now has a waitlist, which is great! I simply applied the skills I knew I had. To do it in 30 days is cool, but it took 10 years to learn and be able to do this in 30 days.
How did you promote your company in the early days?
Haris Reis: Word has gotten out about our results and we are now working solely from referrals and may need to expand our office and team in the next coming weeks!
How do you plan on growing the business?
Haris Reis: Delivering results for clients, expanding the team and having an AMAZING office environment. We are going to focus on providing value to the Omaha market as well as Denver.
Teach us something we don’t know about closing a sale.
Haris Reis: In today’s world, everyone talks a big game but very few can and do deliver actual results. The secret to closing a sale is giving clients a “safety” net. If you are as good as you say you are, you are not worried about it and the clients mind is at ease and then you just have to deliver.
What do you think you do better than most people? How are you able to do it?
Haris Reis: Care. Most entrepreneurs are in it just for the sale, I do it for the relationship. I really love the people I work with and the projects we do together. Don’t chase money, chase projects that excite you personally and you’ll be surprised by the results you bring to the client!
What is your favorite book you’ve ever read?
Haris Reis: The Four Agreements by Don Ruiz
What is your favorite hobby?
I love Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I train at Axios, a gym located in Omaha, NE and we have some of the most elite grapplers on the planet. All of my coaches are ranked world-wide. John Hansen is #8 at Black Belt, Joe Baudler is #2 in the masters division as a Black Belt and Brian Donohoe is #1 in masters at Brown Belt for No-Gi. I train with Jake Leggett non-stop, who is one of the top white belts in the state. This team beats me up and I get put in very tough positions and am forced to fight out of them. It makes me a better person overall. The more I train, the better I feel and the better I get at it, the better I am in business. Because in business, you figuratively get knocked down…in the gym you literally get knocked down and kicked around and have to keep coming forward.
Struggle, every entrepreneur goes through it. What has struggle taught you?
Haris Reis: I used to hate it and go into deep depression anytime I’d struggle. No matter how many times I’ve heard “struggle makes you better” I never believed it. I’ve had a very difficult year in 2018 professionally and personally but it really has taught me that anything is possible and that I am in control of my own future. When you really take responsibility that everything is your fault, you can create the life you want. I went from severe depression
Where do you see yourself and your product in a couple years? What’s your dream?
Haris Reis: I have a personal and business dream. I want to travel as much as possible personally. I am hoping I get to travel all around the world for 6 months next year finding and fixing problems seen around the world. I Professionally, I’d love to have an office with a good sized team and working on projects that change industries or anything fulfilling. I truly want to make a huge difference in this world. One day, I will build an entrepreneurship center back home in Bosnia to give the people there all the resources they need to succeed, which should create businesses out there, which will raise the economic status of the country.
