Yan Stavisski runs a Credit and Travel Hacking business and got started in this industry because of his own personal financial crisis at 22 years old that forced him to start learning credit and get a sales job. After getting out of debt, fixing his own credit and learning how to properly use it for business purposes, Yan began to leverage credit for real estate and ecommerce which would quickly result in his side income to surpass that of his 9-5 sales job. This ultimately resulted in the possibility of quitting his 9-5 job and being able to run multiple successful businesses all of which are credit-related. One of the biggest challenges Stavisski faced when starting his business was the lack of full knowledge of the industry, hands on experience in the field, and the drive to keep persevering despite any failures. Yan’s inspiration for getting into his niche was that he knew it was something he had always dreamed of and was a requirement for the lifestyle he wanted to live or travelling, not turning down new experiences, and making the most out of the life he was given.
When being asked how important mindset is when starting your own business, Stavisski replied that it is everything! He said that having a strong mindset and mental attitude is the only thing that will allow you to achieve your goals, and you have to believe in yourself more than anyone else. The way you view yourself and what you are capable of is the foremost important element to achieving success. Yan decided that he wanted to start his own business because of his own personal experience with credit card debt and he wanted to help others. “The financial education side of the business resulted out of my personal financial crisis that was overturned by learning everything I know about credit and how to properly leverage it which absolutely catapulted my life to where it is now and for those that learn from me.” Stavisski’s advice for those trying to start their own business and brand is to “Work with or for a business or person doing something similar to what you are hoping to start, so that you can gain the skills needed, insight about the business, and the connections to make it happen.” One of the biggest obstacles Stavisski has had to overcome in his life and the creation of his business so far is tackling $82k worth of credit card debt at 22 years old and paying $4k in interest to the banks monthly while having a small monthly income and having to pay his rent while living in the expensive city of San Francisco. It was these obstacles that Yan had to overcome that made him the successful businessman he is today and being very smart with his money.
We asked Yan what fear means to him, to which he responded “a barrier between you and greatness.” To expand further, he means that fear is the only thing stopping you from achieving your goals and it is crucial to believe in yourself and understand that a business is not going to be profitable overnight, perseverance and determination is key. On the contrary, when asked what success means to Stavisski, he said “an achievement of a specifically defined goal.” When building your own brand, it is key to have goals and aspirations for yourself so that you can do checkpoints along the way, and see the point you are currently at with your business in regards to where you want to be, and figure out how to get there. When Yan was asked how he differentiates his business from competitors he said “I practice what I preach and have a true passion for what I do and the impact it can have on other people’s lives. I teach Credit and Travel Hacking and these are both something I leverage on a daily basis to create cash flows and travel the world for free.” In 2019, Stavisski took over 140 flights of which most were completely free due to his advanced knowledge of Travel Hacking. As for what’s next for Yan Stavisski, he is working towards acquiring a 100 million dollar real estate portfolio over the next five years.
