The quarantine list in New York, which most recently had limited travel from 41 U.S. hotspots, is now over. Travelers will only need to take the test before leaving and before returning.
There are two classifications of travelers entering New York, as defined by the governor: residents who have traveled for less than 24 hours outside the state and elsewhere. Before taking a coronavirus test, all forms of travelers entering New York must now be quarantined for at least a three-day duration. As long as the test returns negative, the time of quarantine will end.
New Yorkers returning from traveling outside the state for less than 24 hours do not need to take a test before returning, but they must also take a test after re-entry. You only need to take a test before moving to New York.
Local health departments will confirm reports, if necessary, and will issue isolation orders and initiate contact tracing if a test comes back positive. To ensure contact tracing continues, the local health department must contact the traveler’s state.
To contribute to New York State’s comprehensive contact tracing program, all travelers must fill out the traveler information form upon arrival in New York State. Cuomo also predicted that an increase in the COVID-19 rate would be triggered by the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, citing travel, small gatherings, and college students.
People think they’re safe if they’re with familiar people, but it doesn’t mean they’re safe from COVID-19 just because they’re your family. That is why these travel rules would be particularly significant.
The out-of-state threat only compounds the danger at home. In their respective states, all three tri-state governors face varying increases in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations, together with overall positivity rates. In certain highly specific geographic areas of Brooklyn, Queens, Rockland, Orange, and other counties, Cuomo’s micro-cluster strategy is ongoing.
New virus control measures have been introduced by the largest city in New Jersey to curb its latest case surge. New Jersey has not submitted any new sweeping statewide or even geographically targeted restrictions. Still, Murphy said on Friday that he would impose more total shutdowns if it came to that.
