If there is one thing entrepreneur and businesswoman Atricia Faulkner considers herself a living testimony to the popular saying; “It’s not where you start but where you finish”, as she lives her life by taking a deliberate approach through her business, to mentor like minded individuals to financial freedom.
She reigns from the beautiful island of Jamaica but migrated to the United States almost twenty years ago. Unfamiliarity, instability and being strapped for cash sent Atricia and her newborn son to live in a shelter shortly thereafter. Those daunting circumstances caused her to be separated from her son for his early years, but drove her to do and become more.
Today, Atricia operates her very own Credit Repair and Life Insurance Agency. This business for her is a medium of sharing herself and knowledge on the matters of personal finance, getting out of debt, and having a steady cash flow with the wider community. It is her passion, and comes organically because of her journey and the ease of entry into Network Marketing.
“The opportunity fits perfectly into my current life as I am a single mother of three with a full time job within the Aviation Industry. I share my position with other individuals and they think it’s hard to do, but the only hard thing is overcoming FEAR,” she shares.
As with any new projects, business owners tackle major uncertainty in their start up process. Though guidance and mentorship is a bonus to joining a Network Marketing team such as Atricia’s she speaks confidently because of her mindset. She did face some challenges initially. Those being her fear of failure and start up funding. She initially felt scared of doing something new, but her mindset is what helped her overcome that fear.
“Mindset is of utmost importance not only in business but in life all together. You have to be willing to do the work needed to get the business done. Focusing on why you are starting your business and always staying in a learning mode,” she says.
After finding your why, and fixing your mindset the next step is exploring your passion. Her advice for those trying to start their own business, is to make sure it is something that you’re passionate about and love doing.
“Being passionate will help your business flourish,” she assures.
She also advises that passion and work triumphs competition. And tells us not to worry about competition, “it doesn’t exist”. Instead, she charges us to focus on our strong traits, and learn from what others are doing differently in order to continue to grow.
Success for Atricia is having the freedom to make financial decisions she feels are best for her and her family.
“To implement goals and to actually achieve them,” she says.
Being debt free, owning five or more income properties, creating jobs or business opportunities for other individual, being able to provide for her family, and live life on my terms, are some of the goals that define financial freedom for her.
Atricia is currently working to obtain her real estate license, as well as expanding her free credit repair seminars in all 50 states. Currently, she conducts free, weekly seminars at Kani Events Studio 1771 Nostrand Avenue Brooklyn, NY at 7:30pm every Thursday, where she helps people better their credit, with amazing results.
