The story of the auto industry cannot be complete without the mention of Simon, with the Australian entrepreneur growing his company to become one of the most sought-after providers of innovative auto solutions. The passionate entrepreneur did not have it easy, especially as his company faced tough competition from big names that already existed and seemingly dominated the industry. However, Simon was not letting the threat from stakeholders in the auto industry as well as other obstacles define his future as he focused on the goal and thanks to the support of his father, he was able to overcome these challenges.
The auto industry remains highly competitive and dynamic. Over the years, several brands have emerged to provide a wide range of solutions to meet the diverse needs of consumers. The competition and dynamism in the market often make it difficult for new entrants to succeed as they struggle to carve a niche and capture a share of the market. The case was not particularly different for Simon and his company. However, his determination and patriotism stood him out as he worked hard to grow the brand.
“There were big names in the industry, massive companies. But I always said: “We will make the most premium product and will make it in Australia”. Now, no disrespect for any other country, but when you buy something from a certain country and it comes from that country, you’re supporting those workers, you’re supporting their families, you’re supporting everything!” said Simon, when answering to questions about the obstacles he faced.
Simon was seemingly lucky when he decided to start his business, with his dad literally placing a $20,000 stake on him. This helped Simon to start the business amid sacrifices to ensure that he did not disappoint his father and the trust he had.
“When starting my company, my father supported me by giving $20,000 to get the business going. He gave that money in faith that I could turn it into a massive business. And he was right, because it gave me the freedom an entrepreneur needs. However I did eat tin soup for 6 months and lived off of a $6 daily meal budget. My passion got me through this time period. Some people may break and fail like this, but for me, personally, it brought success,” said Simon.
