Matt Par is a young entrepreneur and a YouTube legend. He is a guru in social media marketing and YouTube optimization. Matt began engaging on YouTube from the early age of 14 years old. “I was uploading a bunch of random videos with my friends. Until I landed on some youtube channels and saw the profit that they were making. Since then, I worked to develop my own YouTube Channels and become a YouTube entrepreneur,” he says.
With nine YouTube channels generating a six-figure income and millions of subscribers, we engaged this versatile entrepreneur to share some tips on how to maximize monetization on YouTube.
Matt Par’s Background
Matt grew up in a small town in the Midwest. Inspired by the success of other YouTube channels, he uploaded his first youtube video at the age of 14 years. “The video consisted of a voice-over; my voice over that I had captured using a crappy iPhone that I had,” he says. However, in just a week, his video had already generated 100,000 views. This accomplishment motivated the young entrepreneur to learn more about YouTube.
He spent the next two years learning what works and what doesn’t on the platform. By the age of 16 years old, he was generating $9,000 a month from his YouTube channel. Since then, he has expanded his operation to include multiple channels in different niches and has never looked back.
Optimizing YouTube Channels
Presently, Matt runs nine different YouTube channels that primarily make top 10 list videos. These include animation videos and other types of videos from a variety of niches.
He started a personal brand channel towards the end of 2018 and managed to get 7,000 subscribers in a matter of months. The channel initially had 20 videos. One of the videos got 166,000 views. How does Matt do it? How does he manage to optimize viewership in his videos?
One of the strategies he recommends is market validation. “Market validation has to do with determining what type of channel you want, which niche you intend to venture into and to conduct a market valuation on that niche,” he says.
According to Matt, consistency is the key to success. “You cannot upload a basketball video at one point and then upload a video with a different content the next day,” he says. Your first step towards success on YouTube is choosing the type of channel that you want to run, determining which niche you wish to venture into and conducting a market validation on that niche.
Market validation is can be determined using various free or paid software tools, for instance, VidIQ. The search traffic helps you determine whether there is demand for the content you intend to share on youtube.
The second strategy is converting search traffic into suggested traffic. “Suggested traffic has to do with a variety of factors, from the description of the video to the tags and the headline,” he says. “I convert search traffic into suggested traffic using similar metadata. That means having a section of your video on YouTube, similar to other videos that you have on the platform. can be similar titles or similar keywords in the description.” The strategy will significantly boost your video’s rankings.
The third strategy is consistently checking on analytics. YouTube analytics helps you monitor your video’s performance. “You should check your YouTube analytics at least once a week to see what is working and what is not,” he says, “However, do not just upload one video and wait for it to rank. I recommend taking into consideration something I call the 33 rule. This rule entails uploading 33 videos in the same niche. Then, check your analytics on the 33 videos once a week to determine what your audience likes,” he says.
If you upload 33 videos and don’t see any results, consider either changing up the content or changing the niche. More often than not, it’s the content that’s not performing.
Monetizing on YouTube
YouTube is an online goldrush with over 1.3 billion people going online to view videos. Over 300 hours of video are uploaded on this platform every minute, with over 30 million viewers per day checking on videos. With such massive traffic, YouTube has become a source of income for millions of people. There are three key ways to monetize on YouTube. The first strategy is joining the YouTube partner program. This program allows youtube to place ads on your videos for a fee.
The second strategy is developing a personal brand channel. Matt sells courses online using his personal channel. This strategy has allowed him to generate leads for his business. “Selling mentorship, consultancy, and education have helped me monetize from YouTube as well. Not only have I developed as an expert in my niche, but I have been able to generate leads for my business through the authenticity of my content,” he says.
The third strategy is using YouTube to promote other peoples’ products. You can go on affiliate marketplaces like the one offered from Amazon and make videos on those products and then promote the affiliate links to those products in the descriptions of your YouTube videos. This method allows you to not even have any products to sell.
Ultimately, YouTube is only going to continue growing in the future and the best time to start is now. There are so many ways of growing and monetizing your channel today that it’s a no brainer for any company or individual to start a channel.
You don’t need to be running 9 different channels like Matt Par does to make a full-time living from YouTube. Start a channel and consistently upload videos to it and make optimizations based off the data from those videos until you’re successful.
