Many ambitious entrepreneurs dream of building a six or seven-figure business, but many are still asking, “how does one achieve this?” Building a brand or business may not come overnight. Sometimes, it needs great patience and persistence. It is worth noting that patience is not about doing nothing. However, it is about regularly doing everything you can, but be patient about the results.
Well, meet Shawn Henry, who was born in Ontario, Canada. He grew up receiving exceptional support from his mother since she had two jobs. This meant that Henry received all the financial, moral, and spiritual support that his mother could offer. Henry enjoyed other moments like making friends, sometimes just having fun with lizards and enjoying the breeze. It was when he was 13 that his stepfather introduced him to Hockey. That when he learned how to socialize and make friends. He met his two friends who later were to become his biggest business partners.
When Things Go Wrong
When he moved to high school, things seemed to take a turn for Shawn. All he wanted to do was smoke weed, hang with girls and other things that he was not supposed to be doing. He faced expulsions and frequent suspension in school. These experiences made Henry feel very isolated. Often, he was always on detention and, at some point, even risked his graduation.
After completing his GED, he started a new life in college doing his masters. He was lucky enough to get a job after starting school. However, the job did not last longer than three weeks. He got another job working with dogs, perhaps due to his love for dogs. There too, he lost his role in a record time of a week and a half. This endless cycle of losing jobs continued until a light appeared at the end of the tunnel. Someone appeared and offered Henry a career in sales. Being a good talker and seller, this seemed to be his ‘thing’ now. He was barely 24, and at this time, his parents were facing a harrowing divorce- yet he wasn’t mature enough to run a business.
It was unfortunate, though, that Shawn Henry was deep into drinking and found himself driving intoxicated at times, and this is when his life started to spiral downward. Though not an addict, his actions as a result of often being intoxicated led to his arrest. Shawn was told he had to enroll in classes to try and help his problem but all Henry could do was violate his probation. Shawn was given warnings by his instructors, but everything he was told seemed to be falling on deaf ears. In the process, Henry even risked a ten -year jail sentence. His life then revolved around courtrooms.
How Henry Overcame His Challenges To Become A Mega Millionaire
Nevertheless, Henry was a good seller. At one point he titled as the #1 salesman in the country. Henry worked with various companies and businesses and finally got a job at a small solar company. The company interviewed and trained him for three days, and he emerged as number one. He was doing so well and receiving essential information about how the company started, how a company gets licensed, and how the company goes about getting leads. But, unfortunately, his instructor died. However, he had gained enough information that acted as an eye-opener to Henry.
The champion could not waste any more time. Henry began brainstorming, getting more ideas since he did not have even the slightest idea on how to start a business. When the idea was ripe, and things began rolling, Henry and his childhood friends began moving door to door selling their designs. It seemed like an excellent idea to step out of the company and start their own company. They could wake up early, bang on every house that entire day in search of selling their ideas. In the process, they managed to sell their ideas and make $9000 on their first day, and this great sale was motivating for Henry.
Success Is Something You Attract
Henry got licensed, and with the confidence and trust he had gained from people, he started to get more business and make more money. However, making money was not something new for him. He had done it since he was a kid, but this time around, he wanted to make big money. The icon wished to live his life the way he wanted. He did not want to live his life around other people’s lives. Through his business, he has been able to generate more than $48 million in revenue in the last two years- something to be coveted. Today, the guru stands as the founder of Efficient Home Services– a company that helps homeowners achieve energy efficiency within their homes and already listed as the #179 company on the Inc 5000 list.
The future’s still bright. Shawn Henry wants to inspire more and help small businesses grow to achieve their dreams. Therefore, don’t just sit there, do anything and everything to get started even if it involves taking a risk like Shawn did. This man is a great example of failure into success, take this story and run with it; let this be your starting point and start living your dreams!
