Born and raised in sunny South Florida, Garren James excelled as an athlete and attended college on a football scholarship. He earned a degree in Liberal Arts. What was your inspiration for creating Cowboys4Angels?
I was living in Los Angeles and dating a woman who was running a female escort agency. I saw what a bustling business it was. However, female escort agencies are a dime a dozen. What I was more interested in was providing high-caliber time and companionship to a population which seemed underserved: straight, high-income women.
How did you do market research before launching Cowboys4Angels?
I did thorough research by connecting with other escort agencies. Many of these were mainly gay male escort agencies and female escort agencies. I found that many were based in Las Vegas and targeted the party scene.
These were the only types of agencies I was able to find at the time. As a result, it reinforced my ideas and confirmed the need for a differentiator in the market place.
What’s the backstory in your company’s name? Why the terms “cowboys” and “angels?”
The name comes from a George Michael song called “Cowboys and Angels.” I just really liked the way it sounded. One day a friend of mine was singing it and we both said to one another “that would be a great name for the business.” From there, it became Cowboys4Angels!
What is Cowboys4Angels’ clientele? What differentiates it from the overall male escort industry clientele?
To date, Cowboys4Angels remains the premiere, straight male escort agency in the United States. Our clientele is strictly heterosexual women of means. They are seeking high-caliber time and companionship from a gentleman who is handsome, fit, intelligent, charming, cultured and sophisticated. As a result, this completely differentiates Cowboys4Angels from other escort agencies.
What are some of the challenges of running a male escort agency? What are some of the perks?
Some of our challenges relate to the unfortunate stigma which exists surrounding the entertainment and escort industry. People make inaccurate assumptions about the services we provide, which are solely quality time and companionship. The perks? They’re limitless! However, I’d say the main perk is being able to continuously provide women with experiences that create lasting memories with the help of our male companions.
Not surprisingly, many of our clients initially come to us when they’re struggling with heartache or other challenging personal issues that have directly negatively affected their social and romantic lives.
By spending time with our male escorts, they have reclaimed themselves and started anew. That’s really why I do this and why Cowboys4Angels flourishes.
What are the growth projections for Cowboys 4 Angels? What markets are you in and where would you like to expand your business footprint?
Cowboys4Angels is currently representing male companions throughout the United States in 13 different cities, Washington D.C., and 8 states. We plan to add additional male escorts within each of our existing satellite offices. In addition, we are focusing on opening new offices in New England, the Midwest, Pacific Northwest, and the Southwest.
You played football in college, and double-majored in Psychology and Sociology. How did has your overall university experience informed your business experience?
Playing organized football throughout my childhood and then on to the collegiate-level provided me with a strong sense of loyalty, teamwork and, self-discipline. All of this directly translated to me being successful in business.
In addition, my studies in Psychology and Sociology, combined with my professional and personal life experiences, have enabled me to understand the inner workings of communications, culture and the dynamics of interpersonal relationships.
These elements have been crucial in building a business and cultivating positive working relationships.
Are there any surprising aspects of the male escort industry that you’d like to share?
It always seems to surprise people how down-to-earth and authentic our male companions truly are. A lot of times people assume that professional male models or actor are vain, vapid and completely wrapped up in themselves. At Cowboys4Angels, we have a very strict and rigorous recruitment process. We deny 90 percent of applicants because they do not meet the criteria we’ve established as absolutely necessary. The ability to create and maintain mature and sophisticated relationships is essential in our industry.
