A lot of people wish to grow in their life and their career. Sometimes, the opportunities they seek are in different parts of the world. They do all the hard work to make sure their dreams come true. That’s exactly what Annie Luong, a Vietnamese immigrant, wanted to achieve in life. Years ago, at the age of 17, Annie left Vietnam to achieve her dreams in America. However, she had to face a lot of challenges.
We have been reading a lot about how immigrants don’t get decent treatment in many countries. For Annie Luong, the struggles in the USA were similar as she faced many issues because she wasn’t much aware of the laws there. It was quite shocked towards Annie, and she was taken aback as she had moved to America with lots of dreams and hopes. On top of that, she also struggled at school because of dyslexia not being able to read at the speed as her classmates.
In her words, Annie Luong shared her story of in the first few years. Annie said, “I was born with ( Asian Flush ) a genetic disorder prominent in Asian where a person lacks a certain enzyme necessarily for substance processing. I‘ve been suffering from it. Often time, if I get pulled over by an officer, I was always assumed to be intoxicated.”
After facing these obstacles and landing in troubles and embarrassment for not very good reasons, Annie Luong decided to help immigrants like her. She decided to help people who shift to America and are unaware of the laws in the states. Hence, she launched an app called – The Green Light App. Here’s the link for the same – https://thegreenlightapp.com/
If one clicks on The Green Light App link, they will read several texts – Safeguard against potential injustice. Under this, she has posed numerous questions, and whoever downloads the application will get an idea of the law and the rights they have there as an immigrant.
About her venture, Annie Luong shared, “Because of a series of my misery, I understood others pain and started my project with the mission helping others.”
We truly inspired by Annie mission and especially when she said : “ I would do anything to not have one more person to suffer the ways I did. It is our responsibilities to make changes one day at a time. “
With her app, she also wants to focus on the current protests in Nigeria. Thousands of Nigerians have taken to the street and raised their voice against police’s violence (Special Anti-Robbery Squad) towards innocent people.
About the #EndSARS protests in Nigeria and how her application’s mission and visions are aligned to it, Annie shared, “We would like unity and no abusing of power to innocent people.”
Kudos to Annie Luong for trying to save lives and making a living better for other people. Despite having a rough start in America herself, she decided to use the experience for the betterment of society.
