Following your passions is advice that is often overplayed today, as it is said time and time again but people still decide to settle for less than they deserve in their careers. For Floyd “Timeless” Thomas, his passion for music drove him to be a force in the music and entertainment industry if it was the last thing he did.
Growing up, both of his parents were church musicians and his father was especially tied to music being a producer and writer for a record label. By the age of 2, Floyd was already playing the drums and by 14 was fluent on the piano. His passion for music collided with entrepreneurship during his childhood, as he saw his mother take a cleaning business to multiple six figures.
Having both of these things rooted so deeply in him, he decided to pass up on a full ride music scholarship to top music schools in favor of pursuing entrepreneurship. Immediately out of high school, Thomas toured with renowned, multi Grammy award winning production label Pjam. During his time, Thomas would go on to become a 35 time billboard charting producer, writer, and arranger. At 19, he had his own record company, A10 records. It was very apparent at an early point in Floyd’s life that his passion for music combined with his raw talent had set him up for sustained success in the industry. He has invested tens of thousands of dollars into himself and his label, and even refused a close to 7 figure production deal with Virgin records to make sure his artists kept momentum under his label.
Given all of his musical abilities, Floyd was destined for success. But, he still had his business related slip ups along the way, investing money in the wrong places. Rather than becoming frustrated with investments and generating multiple income streams, he learned from his mistakes and would wind up investing in super successful ventures including HVAC, parking lot striping businesses, and real estate.
His mother was his inspiration to start entrepreneurship, and he has been driven to go harder ever since he was a boy watching his mom support him and his 6 siblings. What has also pushed him to reach greatness is the ability to help his friends escape hardship and struggle. He has taken it upon himself to thrive in business so he could then turn around and help his friends out, and this has worked wonders to this point in his career.
Since he has started his career, Floyd has made more money producing music than anything else. Paul Black, his sisters’ husband, granted him virtually unlimited access to the studio so he could work on his craft and become great. Thomas owes a lot to Paul, and is truly appreciative in believing in him and his abilities. Floyd Thomas has already made everyone close to him proud, and he will continue to work as hard as he possibly can to inspire others.
