There is nothing in life like being free and able to provide value to the lives of others. This is what entrepreneur and investor Jose Garcia has done with his life–helped fix others’ credit so they can get their dream house or car, and in so doing, improve their lives.
Jose Garcia is a 28 year old, whose father moved to the U.S. from Dominican Republic when he was only 12 years old. His father had to work very hard to afford the opportunity for Jose to go to a good school and college.
“I was on the same path as most people. Go to college, get a corporate job, and retire in 40 years. But midway through college I discovered the possibilities of entrepreneurship and investing through one of my mentors.” Jose shares. “I still finished and graduated college with degrees in Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering but my true passion was finance as I came to find out.”
Right after college, Jose took a job in corporate America to start paying off his student loans. After the 9 to 5, he would use the remaining hours of the day to study trading, investing, personal finance and credit.
“With all this knowledge I gained, I was able to pay off $42,400 in student loans in just two years and a half and build up an 804 credit score.” Jose recounts. “I was also able to amass a six figure net worth in just a few years out of college, even when I started $42,000 in the negative.”
It was important for Jose to protect his credit profile, as this allowed him to invest in passive income streams like his automated Amazon business, which just did over 1.2 million in revenue last year. In fact, Jose values credit so much that it is the main focus of his company.
“I run a financial consulting and education company called the Credit & Wealth Institute. Our main product is the Credit & Wealth Accelerator, which is a live remote group coaching program in which we cover how to automate your finances, how to invest and build your portfolios, how to build up your credit and credit lines, and then leverage this credit to create passive income streams.” Jose says.
Jose also offers credit repairs services and business funding services for those who just want a la carte services. All they offer is to help the many people Jose has seen throughout his life struggling after college with their finances and credit.
“Many people that I know don’t have any investments or other income streams besides their jobs. And I made it my mission to change that. I want to end the paycheck to paycheck lifestyle for as many people as possible.” Jose states.
Just two years ago, Jose started Credit & Wealth Institute because he had gotten tired of seeing the people around him living paycheck to paycheck and not having their finances and credit in order. He knows first hand the effects that these circumstances can have on relationships and everyday life and so he wanted to help.
Starting the business, Jose very quickly noticed a big challenge: marketing. He realized that even if you offer a great service and provide the best results in the world, if no one knows about this, you can’t help anyone. He had to tackle this so that he could reach and help more people.
“Mindset is probably the most important thing when starting your business.” Jose adds. “Without the right mindset you will give up way too quickly. Starting a great business will come with struggles in the beginning, and a strong mindset will help you persevere through those tough times.”
Another thing Jose advises to those trying to start their own business or brand is to understand that working on your business has a compound effect. Even if you are putting in a ton of hours in the beginning without any pay, all the work will pay off in the future.
“The other thing is that you should strive to not be mediocre. Make sure you are offering the best service possible because you will stand out from the rest.” Jose advises. “Strive to be the best you can and your business will flourish.”
In order to do this, not only is the right mindset needed, but also the right perception about challenges and obstacles around you, such as fear. For Jose, fear is false evidence appearing real, and it is based on past experiences.
“A child is not afraid of a hot stove because they haven’t been burned yet. Once they are, they will avoid it.” Jose explains. “It’s the same with obstacles we face in life. But with fear, we have no choice but to get over them by thinking of it this way. What is the worst that can happen and what is the best that can happen if I face this fear? Then it becomes a matter of Risk vs Reward similar to trading. Is risking this worth possibly getting that?”
Jose’s biggest obstacle was overcoming his own debt. This is why he is so determined to help others do the same. Success for him is having freedom and providing value to the lives of others.
“Being able to help someone fix their credit to buy their dream home or the new car they need is more rewarding than anything else. Because not only am I impacting that person directly, but I am also impacting the lives of their children who will live in that home or get driven to school in that car.” Jose shares.
By helping people build a strong financial foundation, Jose can help them buy back their freedom so they can pursue their true passions in life, which is what he did with his own life.
Jose’s next projects include creating a few more lower ticket courses in travel hacking (free travel) and a Credit Blueprint course, which will show people how to repair their own credit if they cannot afford his full repair service.
“The value in the Credit Blueprint course will be astronomical because people can use the information in the course to repair credit for others as a side hustle.” Jose adds.
