Italian entrepreneur and leading hospitality & beverage influencer Luca Missglia knows better than perhaps anyone that the path to success is far from a straight line. While it may seem as though he took a straight path to success, what the outside observer fails to see is the hours of hard work and dedication he put into his craft to become successful.
After dropping out of school in Italy, Missaglia booked a one way ticket to London to pursue his dream of working in the hospitality industry to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps. He worked as a barista to support himself while he learned the English language, showing that he was willing to put any amount of work in to become successful at his passion. After getting a mixology job at a leading cocktail bar in London, his talents were quickly recognized by two respected restaurateurs.
They offered him the opportunity to run the entire operation at a restaurant and club in downtown London, and Missaglia’s year of hard work to learn the English language and master his craft had paid off.
He wasted little time making the most of his opportunity. His accolades quickly began to grow as he won cocktail competitions left and right, and he would go on to join a hospitality group as the bar director. He managed bars in numerous outlets worldwide, and managed to perform exceedingly well in 2 cocktail competitions and be nominated to a “Hospitality 30 under 30” list in the process.
Today, Missaglia is a global brand ambassador for a leading international beverage company, works with some of the world’s leading bartenders to educate them on the trade and how to best serve their consumers, and promotes “Italian aperitivo drinking culture” around the world.
Missaglia found the inspiration to become an entrepreneur from a very young age. He grew up in a family where his parents were always hard at work, and it made him come to the realization that he wanted to work smart and have his freedom rather quickly. His career path has certainly allowed him to do that, as he is still able to make use of his free time and have an international approach with his career.
His career is so dramatically international, in fact, that he finds himself in several different countries in the matter of hours. He once flew into Rome in the morning, left Rome by train for Turin, and flew back to London all within a matter of hours. His career has been this fast paced and demanding ever since he got started all of those years ago, but he wouldn’t trade it for anything else.
