Background
Why did you decide to become an entrepreneur?
I had £3.64 in my bank account, with nothing particularly to lose. If the company failed, I’ve have £0 instead. However I had a supporting family if things did go wrong, and knew this was the time to take a risk in my life if anything. I knew the industry inside out and was confident of the model to be successful (although I had no idea how well it could do). Thankfully, it’s been the best decision of my life.
Who were your biggest influences? Was there a defining moment in your life?
My father. He has built a couple of businesses, large and small and had up and down moments in life. When things has been tough, he’s found a way to power through.
Now
What are you working on? How did you come up with this idea?
We are a digital social media agency with a key expertise within the influencer marketing scene. After being an “influencer” myself and building a personal brand up to 300,000 Subscribers, completed brand endorsements with the likes of Ubisoft, Renault, Microsoft & more. Kairos Media works with some of the most influential brands in the world, helping them develop their social strategy, eSports, influencers and a variety of other services, supported with our custom built software. We help brands understand the social media market, and spend their budgets most efficient.
How is your service different and unique? What has been your favorite moment with it? What’s the vision?
The influencer marketing scene is a saturated space, but we’re extremely confident in our delivery, and will guarantee results. Our software allows us to report and track campaigns better than a lot of competitors.
Favourite moment is landing our first large scale account successfully, an exciting year will hopefully pursue.
The vision is to help brands and clients transition from traditional TV advertising into the online world most effectively, and save them millions doing so.
Where do you get the most value for your marketing efforts?
Our key marketing platform is YouTube, however closely followed by Instagram, Twitter then Facebook.
Did you experience failure along the way? What did you learn from it?
Our first two months as a business generated zero revenue. To any business this is some failure, however we then progressed.
Value-add questions
Give the readers the best entrepreneurship advice you have.
Do something you enjoy and are passionate about, and you’ll never feel like you’re working. I’m currently doing 14 hour days at Kairos but I wouldn’t have it any other way, I’m enjoying every day as the company grows, business grows, and we can see the change we’re making in our industry.
Where do you go and learn about business?
I personally watch a couple of social media vloggers (Christian Guzman, Steve Bartlett, Gary Vaynerchuk), however I believe trying and failing is the best key for success. I firmly believe as a person you need to fail and learn yourself, and how to progress/succeed the next time along.
What should an entrepreneur focus on?
Doing something you’re passionate about, and firmly believe in. You can make money and be successful in any industry in the world, but you have to work extremely hard. Whether it’s marketing, selling bottles or recycling, any industry you can make a success if you put the time into it, but you have to enjoy it.
Walk us step-by-step through the process that you had to go through to get from the early stages to where you are today.
I personally had five years of contacts and experience from creating online content, which we leveraged when Kairos started. We used my personal connections with influencers, brands, agencies and similar to open doors up to generate our first business.
Kairos started as a talent management agency representing social influencers, and this helped us generate business and relationships on a further scale.
Kairos also now acts as a social media agency, which means knocking on a lot of doors and opportunities to open the world into influencer marketing.
What are some of your favorite books?
Winning friends and influencing people in the digital age.
Where do you see yourself and your product in a couple years?
I see Kairos Media is one of the top social media agencies within the UK. We’re extremely confident in our ability as a company and so confident, we guarantee results to our clients. With many brands getting involved within the influencer marketing sphere, there’s a lot of competitors and agencies with no knowledge of how to be successful campaigns, Kairos Media want to stand out from the crowd within this, and provide engaging, compelling, and successful campaigns.
