Michael Dennis Murphy is an entrepreneur and the CEO of Murphy Auto Group.
Michael has gone through many challenges, obstacles, and hardships to get to the point where he is now. What differentiates Michael from the competition is that he found something he was passionate about, learned everything he could about the industry, and never settled for anything less than providing exceptional service to his customers. One of Michael’s biggest successes has been maturing and learning everything he could about the industry at such a young age.
Michael Murphy was only 14 years old when he started and had little to no experience which meant he had to rely on the policies, processes, and procedures that he inherited from his father. Over time, with his father’s help, he was able to adopt all of core principles and adapt them into a digital world that is heavily based on social media influence and online consumerism.
Another one of Michael’s strengths is his ability to innovate and adapt through crises During the height of Covid-19, Michael led his team by providing a safe working environment and training the employees at this time. His leadership produced a stronger team and maintained sales in an uncertain environment.
Michael Dennis Murphy is a father and husband and describes his family as his pride and joy. He wanted to be able to provide his family with the best life possible which he did so with integrity, drive, and determination.
When asked what advice he would give to a young entrepreneur, Michael Murphy replied with “Fear equals motivation! What you are afraid of can make you stronger and grow your courage. John Wayne said ‘Courage is being scared to death but saddling up anyways.’ Nothing about entrepreneurship is easy, embrace fear. That is how I became so comfortable in the uncomfortable situations of life.” An entrepreneur’s perception of fear and success is what will determine the trajectory of their business.
Michael Murphy explains that to him fear means a lack of clarity and trying to control what you cannot. Fear will only be an obstacle if you let it be. On the other hand, success to Michael means achieving the vision and goals that you have laid out for yourself.
Michael Dennis Murphy’s advice for those trying to start their own business is to work for your competition. The exception would be if you are creating a company that innovates and is brand new. Otherwise, find out who is best at what you want to do and work for them. Learn from their successes and mistakes, and create solutions of how your company can succeed from that. Another helpful tool to have is a mentor in the industry who can help you avoid some of the mistakes they made. To learn more information about Michael and his business Murphy Auto Group, click here.
