“It’s really important to be reliable”- Zachary Dempsey
What’s your backstory?
I grew up in Vancouver, Canada and was a pretty regular kid. I had no idea what I wanted to do after high school, then in grade eleven I was introduced to social media and started my business, Slogan Social. Honestly, I focused so much on growing my business that I almost didn’t graduate. After high school I focused full-time on Slogan Social, trying to expand and grow as much as possible. I had no idea that a passion project would turn into multi-million dollar business. People thought I was crazy in high school for working 10 hours a day, every day, but it didn’t feel like work to me.
How did you promote your company in the early days?
In the beginning my company was promoted through word of mouth. Connections are really important in this industry, and that is what has helped my company thrive. I keep in contact with a lot of my clients daily and I am sure that has helped build it up as well.
How have you been able to grow your business?
My business grew pretty organically. I started working with one client at the beginning, and when word got out that I was successful at managing his accounts more people approached me. There was no advertising or website at the beginning, but I have all of that now. It’s really important to be reliable and for my clients to see results immediately, and through that success my business has grown immensely.
Where do you see yourself in a couple years? What’s your dream?
My next step is to diversify my income and own multiple companies through that. Now that I have successfully started Slogan Social, I feel confident in branching out to new business ventures. I don’t have any specific goal or dream, but I’m excited to see where my future goes.
