“Your goal should always be to put aside ego, leverage your skills to connect dots, engage all the right people, listen, build consensus and networks, and get the job done. It has been extremely important to grow into a leader of integrity,” says Marceline Uttarkar, Director of Data Science at PayPal.
Uttarkar met Aakriti years ago through someone she knows very well and has since acted as a Woman in AI role model for Aakriti ever since. Aakriti absorbed many of the lessons Uttarkar modeled with her own career, but while Uttarkar considers herself more of an introvert, she watched Aakriti grow and blossom with ambition.
Aakriti seems to embody this kind of curiosity within herself, “She clearly understands all the aspects of what it takes to be successful in AI,” says Uttarkar, “she has sapped up a lot of knowledge…understands [the] technologies behind it, and can speak to all aspects of AI effectively. She has already been extremely successful, starting from her IBM Watson accolades to taking on AI challenges wherever she has worked.”
Without being crippled by an ego, having this balance gives Srikanth an edge over the tech leaders of old. She is able to connect with the people around her in a manner that uplifts and breeds reciprocity. Her leadership is not shaped by the act of managing tasks, but by proving others with the support and the kindness necessary for them to succeed.
Her passion for connection has made her an “Influential Woman in AI” and a “Woman in AI to Watch Out For.”
